Incontriamo questo fenomeno quotidianamente, guidando su una strada non asfaltata in una secca giornata estiva o camminando in un'area industriale o mineraria. La polvere \u00e8 caratterizzata dal tipo di materiale (ad esempio, sabbia, minerali, carbone, terra, ecc.) e dalla distribuzione granulometrica, che in genere \u00e8 ampia. La polvere \u00e8 dannosa per la salute umana, soprattutto se inalata, e si distingue in diverse frazioni dimensionali come PM1 (particelle con diametro aerodinamico medio inferiore a 1 \u00b5m), PM10, ecc. Il PM10 \u00e8 anche una frazione respirabile che pu\u00f2 penetrare in profondit\u00e0 nei polmoni e causare gravi malattie come la silicosi in caso di esposizione prolungata e ripetuta. Pertanto, l'esposizione umana alle polveri deve essere controllata ed \u00e8 soggetta a normative sempre pi\u00f9 severe in tutto il mondo. Oltre al problema della salute, la polvere crea rischi per la sicurezza e aumenta l'usura delle attrezzature meccaniche. Si tratta delle centrali elettriche, dell'industria siderurgica, delle aziende minerarie, della produzione di materiali da costruzione come le fabbriche di calcestruzzo, ecc. Queste polveri sottili sono misurate in \u00b5g\/m<sup>3<\/sup> (microgrammi per metro cubo) ed \u00e8 soggetta a normative sempre pi\u00f9 severe. Al contrario, le concentrazioni di polvere in alcuni edifici di un'acciaieria possono essere diverse migliaia di volte pi\u00f9 alte, a volte superando i 100 mg\/m<sup>3<\/sup> (milligrammi per metro cubo). Per capire la gravit\u00e0 delle condizioni di lavoro in queste aree, \u00e8 necessario \"andare al GEMBA\". <b>GEMBA<\/b> \u00e8 il termine giapponese per \"luogo reale\". In senso pi\u00f9 ampio, \u00e8 il luogo in cui accadono le cose importanti, si prendono le decisioni o si realizzano i piani. Molti anni fa ho vissuto il mio momento GEMBA nel controllo delle polveri, camminando vicino ai trasportatori di sinterizzazione di un'acciaieria. La polvere si stava accumulando sul pavimento con uno spessore di alcuni centimetri, la visibilit\u00e0 era fortemente compromessa e le condizioni di lavoro erano difficili. Utilizzando uno strumento portatile in preparazione di una prova, ho misurato concentrazioni di polvere di gran lunga superiori a 30 mg\/m<sup>3<\/sup>. Nonostante l'abbigliamento protettivo obbligatorio e la maschera antipolvere FFP 3, per togliere tutta la polvere dalle orecchie, dal naso e dalla bocca durante la meritata doccia serale ci \u00e8 voluto un po' di tempo. In generale, i sistemi di nebulizzazione per il controllo della polvere chimica possono essere grossolanamente distinti tra sistemi a umido e sistemi a schiuma. Gli spray a umido erogano una nebbia fine di una soluzione di prodotto diluita attraverso una serie di ugelli posizionati nel punto di destinazione, ad esempio sopra un nastro trasportatore. Sebbene siano noti da decenni e ampiamente utilizzati, spesso introducono un livello di umidit\u00e0 significativo (in genere circa 0,5% (5000 ppm)) nel materiale sfuso, che \u00e8 dannoso per il consumo energetico del processo. Inoltre, alcuni materiali sfusi, come la sinterizzazione, non tollerano livelli di umidit\u00e0 cos\u00ec elevati, rendendo necessaria una soluzione pi\u00f9 sofisticata. I sistemi a schiuma, in cui una schiuma relativamente \"secca\" viene erogata con l'aiuto di aria compressa e ugelli speciali, possono ottenere lo stesso effetto di riduzione della polvere di un'unit\u00e0 di spruzzatura a umido, riducendo al contempo l'erogazione di acqua a livelli minimi di 0,1% (1000 ppm). Le unit\u00e0 di schiumatura sono la scelta ideale quando il processo o il materiale non tollerano molta acqua, o semplicemente quando la penalizzazione energetica introdotta dall'acqua aggiuntiva deve essere ridotta al minimo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-46370d18\" data-id=\"46370d18\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap
