Gli esempi principali sono l'energia idroelettrica, solare, geotermica, eolica e i biocarburanti. Queste fonti energetiche erano relativamente sconosciute alla grande maggioranza. Negli ultimi decenni, la loro applicazione \u00e8 stata ripetutamente avanzata nella lotta contro le\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">cambiamento climatico<\/span>. In linea con il nostro ruolo nell'UE, ci sforziamo di essere il primo continente neutrale dal punto di vista climatico entro il 2050! Si tratta di un obiettivo indubbiamente impegnativo. Per raggiungerlo, le societ\u00e0 devono creare industrie in grado di emettere meno e indurre ecosistemi\/tecnologie in grado di assorbire di pi\u00f9.<\/p><p>Un contributo massiccio al cambiamento climatico \u00e8 dato dalle emissioni di gas a effetto serra (GHG). Circa un quarto di queste emissioni \u00e8 dovuto ai trasporti (stradali e aerei), che dipendono in modo massiccio dai combustibili fossili. Il settore dei trasporti dell'UE deve ridurre significativamente le proprie emissioni per raggiungere la neutralit\u00e0 del carbonio. Questo obiettivo pu\u00f2 essere raggiunto solo costruendo un'industria sostenibile che tenga conto di carburanti e opzioni di mobilit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 puliti.
