Bakgrund

The blast furnace is a device in which by burning coke, liquid pig iron is obtained by reducing iron oxides contained in the ore. The blast furnace process is the most energy consuming process among the all pig iron and steel production processes.

The RDI (reduction degradation index) is a very important parameter that is used as a reference in all sintering work and serves to predict the sinter’s degradation behavior in the lower plant of the blast furnace stack. Low values are desirable for this index.
