RoClean™ Membrane Cleaners

All reverse osmosis (RO) systems foul over time. Symptoms of fouling include a decrease in normalized permeate flow, an increase in salt passage, or an increase in differential pressure. Severe fouling may also cause irreversible damage to membranes, making effective cleaning difficult or impossible.

RoClean™.  cleaners provide powerful, highly effective solutions to membrane fouling issues. They are carefully formulated products, designed to quickly remove the complex foulant matrices associated with membrane systems, while ensuring that they are not aggressive for the membranes themselves, even at higher concentrations.

Environmentally Sensitive Membrane Cleaning Solutions

RoClean L504 und L511 are powerful membrane cleaning solutions designed to have a reduced environmental impact over traditional cleaning chemicals while retaining the highest level of efficacy.

They have the following environmental advantages:

RoClean L504 and RoClean L511 are compatible with polyamide reverse osmosis membranes and most ultrafiltration and microfiltration membrane types. When applied in conjunction, these cleaners have a synergistic action, which is beneficial in removing natural organic materials and biofouling.

RoClean L504 is a low pH cleaner, which is particularly effective for iron deposits and alkaline scales. It removes metal ions that bind organic materials together, making their removal with high pH cleaners easier and more effective.

The product has a rapid action which can be particularly beneficial in short contact CIP and chemically enhanced backwashes in ultrafiltration and microfiltration systems.

RoClean L511 is a blend of biodegradable chelating agents, dispersing agents and surfactants which allow it to penetrate foulant, lift it from the membrane surface and retain it in the circulating solution. The product is effective for multiple foulant types, including organic material, algae, biofilm and silt deposits.

These products meet the requirements of the OSPAR Harmonised Mandatory Control System and can be used for membrane systems in the highly regulated offshore energy industry in the UK, Norwegian, Dutch and Danish sectors of the North Sea.

RoClean L504 meets the formulation requirements associated with Ecocert Ecolabel and Nordic Swan Ecolabel schemes. Both RoClean L511 and RoClean L504 meet the requirements of the Nordic Swan Paper Chemicals scheme.
