Improving the manufacturing process of board and fluting paper with Kurita’s SSK System

Background

The manufacturing process of board and fluting paper is essentially influenced by the impact of the raw materials. The old corrugated cardboard contains in particular starch and a high inorganic load. This serves as a food source for microorganisms. The presence of many bacteria in the system means that dissolved oxygen is consumed, the oxidation-reduction potential is negative, and the entire system is anaerobic. The biocidal treatment has the following task: in addition to overcoming the reductive conditions, ensuring optimal biocidal treatment as well as the economic efficiency of the application.

Objectives

• Improvement of the water quality by increasing the concentration of oxygen inside the process water.
• Increasing ORP and pH and reduction of odor and chemical dosage.
